Major argument in the garden center due to large Christmas sales

If the gourmet sets have been put away, but the smell is still in the⁤ curtains, all ⁤Christmas knick-knacks can be sold at the garden center for a bargain ⁣price. For Christmas fanatics, that means‍ waking up‍ early and stocking up. Even tho that also meant a little less ‘peace on earth’ on Friday morning.

The parking ⁣lot at the Coppelmans garden ⁤center in Veldhoven was⁣ packed on ⁣Friday morning. It’s day one of the sale. And that raises ‍a lot of doubt⁣ in‍ people’s minds. Buy‌ a new Christmas tree, Christmas house or balls dirt cheap. The third day⁣ of Christmas is ‌the perfect time for this.

“You notice that it⁤ really is a⁢ bit ‌of a culture of grabbing,” says employee Harold. He saw his customers fighting with each other this morning as they really wanted⁣ a⁣ certain ‌Christmas house. “But‌ fortunately that has⁤ been resolved.”

“When I arrived at 9:10 am, the entire parking lot was ‍already full of cars.”

Our reporter Lobke also ventured⁣ into the Christmas violence. She wanted to buy a tree cheaply. “I thought I was there early. But when I arrived at 9:10 am, the entire parking lot was already full of cars,” she laughs.

So Lobke was certainly‌ not alone. While waiting in line she‌ started talking to a 34-year-old woman from Waalre. ‍She does not reveal her name, because ‍she has let herself go a bit. “I came for one Christmas ⁤tree, but I have now bought ⁣three,”⁢ says the woman who ultimately did almost 600 euros worth of Christmas shopping. “I’d actually like to put some more‌ in my house next year. And with a forty percent discount,⁢ I couldn’t leave them alone.”

“I‌ thought, let’s just for a moment shopping with a fifty percent discount. You can see that that’s‌ going very well,” confessed one shopper, clutching Christmas ornaments against her coat. “I just take ⁤the baubles that I like, so it doesn’t really matter to me whether it ⁤is still in fashion. It’s a weakness for a good⁢ deal.”

“If they run out, they’re out of⁣ luck.”

The most sought-after items, though, were the charming Christmas houses. To ⁢prevent potential chaos and arguments, the store implemented a unique strategy. ⁣

“We actually have a tactic for that,”‌ explained‌ employee Harold. “Customers can take a box with a sticker, which includes a Christmas house. Not the Christmas⁣ house itself. In this ⁤way, we hope to prevent entire fights as ‌people want one particular house.‍ And if they run out, then they are out of luck.”
