Riyad Mahrez confirmed that the team will seek to win the FA Cup, before Manchester City’s match once morest Arsenal, which will bring them together on Friday evening, in the fourth round of the tournament.
Mahrez is a big fan of the Cup competition, which is the oldest football tournament in the world.
Riyad won this championship once in the 2018-19 season and seeks to win it once more.
The Arab magician said: “It is a very good tournament, given that it is a historic cup in England. We won it once and we want to crown it once more, and we will strive to achieve it.”
He added, “I think it is important that we win, as this is a good challenge once morest a team that leads the Premier League, as Arsenal is the best team in England at the moment, but they will come to us at the Etihad on Friday evening, so we will see what they will present.”
Mahrez knows very well that facing City once morest Arsenal carries a different challenge, given the fierce competition between the two teams for the Premier League title.
Mahrez said, “I think they are really good, but we are used to it. Every year a team comes to compete with us for the league title. Liverpool was in the last four or five years and this year we have Arsenal.”
He continued, “We will strive to win the championship. They are really good, so we will see what happens. They are in the lead at the moment, but we still have a long way to go.”
The Algerian striker is living his best period in Al-Samawi.
The desert warrior has glowed in the City jersey since the end of the World Cup, contributing to 9 goals in 650 minutes, an average of one goal or assist every 72 minutes.
The Arab magician scored six goals, provided three assists and created 14 chances, making him one of the most important players for City at the present time.
Mahrez is very happy, as he said: “I had some problems before and did not perform well.”
And he continued: “Here in the big clubs they don’t wait. If you are not ready, someone else will play well.”
And he added, “I worked hard during the international break when everyone was at the World Cup. I came back really better, which is a good thing at the moment.”
