Mahrer: Anti-Semitism must have no place in Vienna

Clarifying the circumstances and identifying the perpetrators are just as important as city politics joining forces in integration

Vienna (OTS) “These images are frightening and disturbing. One thing is clear: we have to stand united once morest anti-Semitism,” said state party chairman City Councilor Karl Mahrer. The Israeli flag was torn from the Vienna City Temple on the night of Friday to Saturday.

“Such incidents absolutely cannot be tolerated. There is now an urgent need to clarify the circumstances of the crime and identify the perpetrators. Then you have to work on the causes. Why can people become radicalized in such a way in the middle of Vienna and how can this be prevented? After years of integration failure by the SPÖ and neos, what is finally needed is a solidarity in Vienna’s city politics and a new principle for integration: looking instead of looking away,” concluded Mahrer.
