Mahmoud Abbas today accused Hamas of “giving pretexts” to Israel to attack the Gaza Strip.
“The military operation launched unilaterally by Hamas that day, October 7, he gave to Israel additional pretexts and excuses to attack the Gaza Stripkilling, destroying and displacing hundreds of thousands of people,” Abbas said during the Arab League summit in Bahrain.
Meanwhile, according to protothema, Israel’s defense minister said today that additional troops would be sent to the ground operation in the Rafah area, the city in southern Gaza, saying the campaign was weakening Hamas.
“This operation will continue as additional forces enter (the area). Numerous tunnels in the area have been destroyed by our troops and more tunnels will be destroyed soon,” Yoav Gallad said in a statement.
“This operation will intensify – Hamas is not an organization that can reorganize, it has no reserve forces, it has no stockpiles of supplies (….). The result is that we are weakening Hamas,” he stressed.
