MagSafe power bank gains power with new firmware

The MagSafe power bank firmware update has revealed its secret. This version 2.7.b.0 activates inductive charging of the iPhone at 7.5W, instead of the 5W which was the norm until now. The novelty appears in a help sheet from the Apple site, which has not yet been translated into French.

7.5W instead of 5W won’t fundamentally change things, but extra power is always good to take. By the way, Apple explains that to force the firmware update of the accessory, you can plug it into an iPad or a Mac with a Lightning to USB cable; the download and installation process will take approximately 5 minutes.

The power bank can update itself magnetized to the iPhone, but it may take longer, up to a week. In any case, you can check the firmware version number in the settings General > Informationsthen select MagSafe Power Bank.
