Kevin Magnussen, who returned to F1 for the first time in two years as a successor to Nikita Mazepin, dedicated his first qualifying Q3 advance to Haas for the first time in three years since the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix.
Magnussen took 5th place at 1: 31.955 in Q1 and shortened his personal best to 1: 31.461 in Q2, and advanced to Q3 in the first round of his return.
However, immediately following marking the provisional 4th fastest time in Q2, a problem with the hydraulic system struck and driving in Q3 was in jeopardy.
However, due to the hard work of the team, the checker was only 3 minutes away from the course. He scored 1’31.808 and won the 7th grid.
Q3 “It’s crazy!” For the first time in 3 years for Haas
Kevin MagnussenQualifying: 7th, FP3: 7th
It’s crazy. This is exactly what we wanted. There are no words.
The last two weeks haven’t been sane. I came here and learned regarding the car and found it to be a pretty good car, but I was very worried regarding what the qualifying would be like.
In Q2, I used only one set of tires and proceeded to Q3. I think he was regarding 4th in the first run, but he finally passed in 7th.
After that, some troubles occurred and it took time to fix, so I might only run Q3 once. Still, I was able to get 7th place. It’s the coolest. I can’t wait for the start.
The 2022 F1 Bahrain Grand Prix final race will start at 24:00 on Sunday, March 20, Japan time, competing for 57 laps at the Bahrain International Circuit, which is 5412m per lap.
