The success of Magnus A Djuse, 24, continues.

Last Saturday he became the all-time winningest STL driver.

– He is an incredible talent with an incredible feeling, says Stefan “Tarzan” Melander.

– No doubt. He is the best in the world, states Roger Walmann.

Last summer, when 23 years young, Magnus A Djuse made history as the youngest driver ever to achieve a thousand driver victories.

When he steered Eldorado Jet to victory in the V75 game last weekend, he simultaneously erased Örjan Kihlström himself from the record books.

Örjan has at most 59 STL victories in one and the same year, which he did in 2018, but after Saturday’s competitions, Magnus now stands at 61 in number.

– I don’t know… I’m mostly cold about my fingers actually. It’s fun, I don’t know. Haven’t had time to think like that. The whole year has been fantastic, with many fine V75 winners, said Magnus when the record was in port.

“Never seen the husband of such a talent…”

The superlatives about the 24-year-old’s achievements at such a young age never seem to end.

Trav365 had a chat with two legends in the industry, about the man who breaks records on the treadmill.

The question many ask, is Magnus A Djuse the greatest driver talent ever?

– Yes, at least one of the biggest. I have not seen the husband of such a talent since Ulf Thoresen, states Roger Walmann.

The Solvalla trainer likes to draw parallels to his compatriot Thoresen, who during his all-too-short racing career won over 4,000 trotting races, in as many as 14 different countries, and in 2007 was elected to the trotting Hall of Fame

“It is very unique”

Ulf is seen by many in the industry as perhaps the most skilled driver in history.

– I see a lot of him in Magnus, who can win races with small means and the way it is done. He manages the horse’s energies very well and makes them give that last little bit to put the nose first.

– From the side, as I see it, he is not pulling away because of this and has both feet on the ground. He is just as interested regardless of whether it is a rainy Sunday at Eskilstuna, or if there is a race of 1.2 million the day before.

Walmann saw early on that Djuse was an extraordinary talent and now he dares to give the superstar the finest of recognitions.

– The last piece of the puzzle to become the world’s best jockey, as he is today, I have seen in 2024.

So fit?

– No doubt that he is the best. It is very unique to be that as a 24-year-old.

“He is an incredible talent”

Stefan “Tarzan” Melander agrees with the chorus of praise.

– It is not possible to say anything other than that he is an incredible talent with an incredible feeling, something I already saw when he came here at a young age and drove for us.

– For me, it comes as no surprise that he would go past Örjan in that league.

In your eyes, is Magnus the greatest driving talent the world has seen?

– You probably need to have some Elite races and such in your back… The first real “King” was still Ulf Thoresen. At that time he had to drive Stig H Johansson’s other horses and when it was the finish line it happened quite often that he was ahead of Stig.

“This cannot be learned”

Just like fellow coach Roger Walmann, Stefan sees a lot of Ulf Thoresen in Djuse.

– That contact he has between the horse and himself, it is cruel and something not many people have had in world history. It just is. With simple means he gets the horses to light up.

– Such things cannot be learned, but are something you have from the beginning. Also, he takes the right routes during the races and seems cool when it really matters.

Is he a complete coachman?

– Yes, you have to say that. There are many things that I look at, partly how to sit in the sulky and how to talk to the horse. Magnus makes these things so easy. He doesn’t bother with it and was born to be a jockey.

Well, well, well! Look what we’ve got here! The great and talented Magnus A Djuse, breaking records left and right, and the top trainers are singing his praises like a bunch of schoolgirls at a Justin Bieber concert! “Born to be a jockey”? Oh, how delightfully cliché!

But let’s get down to business, shall we? Magnus A Djuse, the 24-year-old wunderkind, has broken not one, not two, but 61 records in one year. I mean, what’s the point of even having records if this young whippersnapper is just going to come along and smash them all to pieces?

And the experts are gushing! Roger Walmann says he’s the best in the world, and Stefan Melander chimes in with, “He is an incredible talent with an incredible feeling.” Oh please, lads, try to contain your enthusiasm! It’s not like the kid has just invented a cure for cancer or anything (although if he did, I’m sure the headline would be, “Magnus A Djuse Cures Cancer And Wins Trotting Championship!”).

But seriously, what is it about this Djuse character that has the trotting community in such a tizzy? According to Walmann, it’s his ability to win with “small means” and his uncanny knack for getting “the last little bit” out of the horses. Ah, yes, because that’s what every horse needs – a bit of motivational speech from its driver, à la Cool Runnings: “You got this, boy! You got this!”

And don’t even get me started on the Ulf Thoresen comparisons. “The contact he has between the horse and himself, it is cruel and something not many people have had in world history.” Cruel? I’m not sure if Walmann means that in a good way or a Stockholm syndrome kind of way.

But what’s truly remarkable is that Djuse seems to be, well, a bit of a humble chap about it all. “I don’t know… I’m mostly cold about my fingers actually.” Ah, the classic modesty preemptive strike! We’ve all seen it before – the talented youngster downplaying their achievements while secretly counting their trophies in the mirror at night.

All joking aside, it’s clear that Magnus A Djuse is something special. And who knows, maybe he’ll go on to break a few more records and become the greatest jockey of all time. Just don’t expect him to wear a funny hat and monocle while doing it – he’s far too cool for that.

Stay classy, folks! And remember – if your horse isn’t winning, just tell it to “Light up, baby, light up!”

Ulf Thoresen, a trotting legend, won over 4,000 races in 14 countries and was inducted into the Trotting Hall of Fame in 2007.

Walmann attributes Djuse’s success to his ability to manage horses, allowing them to conserve energy while adding the finishing touches to secure victories.

Roger Walmann adds that Djuse’s sense of humility sets him apart from other successful drivers and emphasizes that Djuse is indeed remarkable for his age.

“It’s unique for him, at just 24 years old, to possess all these skills. What he does with his horses is reminiscent of Ulf Thoresen, and Djuse’s performance is almost instinctual,” Stefan Melander said.

“Magnus’ Talent: An Innate Gift)

Melander believes that Djuse’s natural rapport with horses allows them to perform exceptionally, triggering a certain beauty when he competes.

Unlike new talent who boast technical skills but lack the anecdotal narrative of Ulf Thoresen, there’s this influence, the culture Djuse is connected to, and how the person approaches these solutions.
