The formula having proven itself in previous years, there was probably a little less suspense about the success of the National Day organized on the Paradis site, Thursday evening in Braine-l’Alleud. However, the weather had to be suitable for these outdoor festivities, and a light shower at the end of the afternoon gave some cold sweats to the municipal services which were mobilized to ensure that everything went as well as possible.
But the sky quickly cleared and the crowd flocked throughout the evening to enjoy the various activities planned as well as the food trucks set up on the lawns overlooking the lake. A ransom for success, the car parks located nearby were quickly filled – residents of the city center were advised to favor soft modes of travel – and the queues lengthened quite dramatically in front of the stands offering food.
But everything happened in a relaxed atmosphere and no incident tarnished the party. Between wooden games, rope bridge, dancing under the lanterns and introduction to archery, a family audience has found plenty to enjoy this convivial evening, feet in the grass close to the city center.
If it remains sometimes controversial despite the noise contained rockets used by professionals at the request of the municipality, it is clear that the pyrotechnic show on the lake attracts a lot of people. And once again, he kept his promises Thursday evening by truly igniting one of the shores of the lake.
Rhythm, magical light effects, rockets that elicit a few cries of admiration or surprise from the crowd, everything was there and the appreciation was unanimous among the spectators who left the site after this show: the magic was there. Others stayed later for the late-night guinguette atmosphere and there too, everything went well until 1 a.m., the “reasonable” deadline set for the end of the festivities. “As there are several entrances to the site, it is quite difficult to assess the attendance with precision but we were at more than 5,000 people, confirmed the mayor Vincent Scourneau Friday morning. And everything happened without any incident: the results are therefore super positive.
