It is not difficult to see that artistic director Michael Garschall came up with a new program. With the premiere of the “Flower Matinee” he created a funny and lively format that attracted many guests on Sunday lunchtime. With a seemingly relaxed penchant for small improvisational freedoms, with wonderful costumes and a theme that combines the two most beautiful things in the world, namely music and flowers, a magical and entertaining program took place.

The soprano Kerstin Grotrian and tenor Clemens Kerschbaumer, who acted with a certain looseness and a portion of humor, provided songs such as “Tulips from Amsterdam”, “The trees are blooming once more in the Prater”, Schubert’s “Heidenröslein”, a duet from Zeller’s Bird Trader ” Give yourself Roses in Tirol” or Millöcker’s “Dark Red Roses” as well as the duet “Edelweiss” from “Sound of Music” for the best mood.

Bernd Leichtfried, who was born in Blindenmarkt, ensured a harmonious sound world on the piano. The moderation by Austria’s most popular gardener, Karl Ploberger, was detailed and funny. With his stories, which are of course regarding “gardening”, which were presented quickly and lively, we gained an insight into the wonderful world of gardens, with their butterflies and dragonflies, but also with their snails and mice. Lots of applause and lots of laughter crowned the first “flower matinee”.
