In his recent public act, Nicolás Maduro criticized that no Latam government bought the alleged attack that would be carried out against him and called the left-wing rulers “cowards.” But it was the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, who responded to his colleague through a tweet.
“There is no cowardly left, there is the probability of, through deepening democracy, changing the world,” wrote the Colombian head of state on his X account.
Petro also assured that “today’s revolution is: transforming the world by deepening democracy” and recalled that “the magic of (Hugo) Chávez was proposing democracy and changing the world.”
The Colombian ruler accompanied his publication with a video in which Maduro attacked the leftist governments for not condemning the alleged attempted attacks against him, calling them cowards.
«They are not only pursuing me to try to make an attempt on my life, as was demonstrated yesterday with the capture of two individuals from the terrorist movement called Vente Venezuela, it will be twenty terrorists. They are silent (…) the right-wing governments are silent. The cowardly left is not capable of condemning the coups, the attempts against the revolution, against peace,” said Maduro.
Previously, the Government of Colombia expressed its concern about the difficulties of the Venezuelan opposition in registering its candidacies for the presidential elections on July 28.
“Colombia expresses its concern about the recent events that occurred on the occasion of the registration of some presidential candidacies, particularly in relation to the difficulties faced by majority opposition sectors such as the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) and the Vente Venezuela Movement, among others” , the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
