MAG delivers supplies to dairy producers and encourages them to be suppliers of “Zero Hunger”

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock delivered technological tools to producers in the district of Vaquería, department of Caaguazú, benefiting 130 families. Minister Carlos Giménez encouraged producers to be suppliers of the school feeding program “Zero Hunger.”

The beneficiary families are organized into committees for the production of milk and dairy products, in addition to growing vegetables.

Among the supplies delivered are forage machines and refrigerators for storing cheese, one of the products made by families from their dairy production.

The investment made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock is 1,447,634 million guaraníes, aiming to strengthen the production of vegetables, milk and cheese in the district.

At the donation ceremony, Minister Carlos Giménez encouraged families to take advantage of the contributions received to improve and increase their production, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to support those who really want to work.

He also urged Vaquería producers to be suppliers of the school feeding program “Zero Hunger,” which from this August plans to provide breakfast, lunch and snacks to some 460,000 children. For next year, the program plans to reach more than 1,300,000 people within the educational system, he said.

“We want to buy national products when the school feeding program starts. It will be very sad if we end up bringing products from neighboring countries,” said the minister, emphasizing that the cheese produced in Vaquería has to be part of the school meals.

“26,000 kilos of cheese will be consumed per week and the cheese that will be produced now in Vaquería will be standardized, so it is important to have vacuum packaging machines to maintain quality,” said the minister.

Giménez encouraged “using the tools well” pointing out that the continued incorporation of technology “will make us produce more and better.”

He acknowledged that municipal budgets are often not enough to support small producers and that central government support is therefore essential.
