Maduro: The dead were from the Guard and the Police

Venezuelan ruler Nicolás Maduro appeared before the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) on Friday to give a statement and thus complying with the request made to him by the Electoral Chamber related to the electoral contentious appeal that he introduced regarding the presidential elections.

“I have answered the legal questions I was asked and I have not shied away from any questions the judges have asked”he said during his meeting with the press after his appearance.

Asked if the PSUV will publish the electoral records that supposedly show him as the winner of the July 28 elections, as it did after the 2013 elections (against Henrique Capriles Radonski), the president responded briefly: “We will do what the Electoral Chamber tells us.” He assured that 83% of the electoral records published by the campaign command of Edmundo González Urrutia through an electronic portal, “they are false”.

He was also questioned about his willingness to negotiate with Edmundo González and María Corina Machado. “The only one he has to negotiate with is the Attorney General so that Machado turns herself in and answers for the crimes she committed.“, he said.

He blamed the “comanditos” of the candidate from the Democratic Unity Roundtable for the acts of violence after the elections. He said that 99% of those captured “have confessed”, that 80% “were trained in Texas, Colombia, Peru and Chile” and that “almost 90% acted under the influence of drugs”.

He assured that “The dead and wounded are from the National Guard and the Police” and blamed the deaths of civilians on “the commandos.”

When asked about the joint statement from Colombia, Brazil and Mexico, Nicolás Maduro said that Foreign Minister Yván Gil is in communication with his counterparts from the three governments with whom there are good relations of permanent communication, “We respect the sovereignty of these countries and do not intervene in the internal affairs of any country. A conversation is pending with the three presidents and with others from around the world, to explain in detail a situation that is difficult to understand, because there is a lot of manipulation of everything that is circulated by the media.”.

The governor said that he will call for a dialogue with the 38 political organizations registered with the CNE, announced that next year there will be elections for governors and urged the political factors that supported González Urrutia “so that they can continue doing politics”.
