Maduro reveals “the conspirators in cassocks”

In the latest edition of the Con Maduro + program, the weekly magazine of the President of the Republic, the Head of State denounced a conspiracy once morest the canonization of José Gregorio Hernández (JGH).

“To the conspirators in cassocks, who have been conspiring once morest JGH for 100 years and who hid their file, who spoke badly regarding JGH, that JGH was a witch…you, the conspirators in cassocks, from the elites, who hate JGH, I wish you a bad destiny, they have been defeated by the truth,” commented President Maduro from the Municipal Theater where that weekly program took place, which will return to the air when the presidential elections end.

“And to Pope Francis, on behalf of all the people of Venezuela, I thank him for taking JGH where it should be,” Maduro concluded.

This entire response from the President of the Republic occurs when commenting on information published by a Colombian journalist according to which the Supreme Pontiff had already signed the canonization of the Doctor of the Poor; just as he had spread it Últimas Noticias on June 4.

“Didn’t I tell you?” said the Head of State. Indeed, on June 4, when the President visited Isnotú (Trujillo), the homeland of José Gregorio Hernández, he toured the house where the Blessed lived, now converted into a sanctuary.

At the end of the visit to the Diocesan Museum that houses objects that the doctor used in life, Maduro took a cell phone out of his pocket and showed the small group that there was a video recorded in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican. In the material, Pope Francis is seen half-stopping to greet a Venezuelan. “It is a very mature town,” the Holy Father responded with a laugh, alluding to the Venezuelan, and then launched a message. “I am going to canonize the doctor; I don’t know when but I already signed,” revealed the head of the Catholic church.

The query

Hours before the Con Maduro + program, the President had presented the National Journalism Award, a ceremony held in the Ayacucho Hall of the Miraflores Palace. And when presenting the award to Ángel González (Últimas Noticias), in the Digital Journalism category, Maduro entered into a dialogue with the social communicator. González later revealed that the Head of State told him that he had read a report published in ÓN on June 29 entitled: “Data: More than 86% have asked José Gregorio Hernández for miracles.” The work, signed by the journalist Víctor Lara, offers the results of a survey carried out from the website of Últimas Noticias between Tuesday, June 25 and Friday, June 28 with the participation of 1.296 people. 91% of those consulted stated that they were devoted to JGH and 86% said that they had turned to the doctor when they needed help.

The President was heard criticizing the hierarchy of the Venezuelan Catholic Church (in that dialogue with González) for “putting obstacles” in the canonization of JGH. “The hierarchy denies the Pope,” said Maduro, alluding to the latest statements issued by the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference where they point out that “there is nothing official” regarding the elevation of JGH to the altars. “They are mean,” the President concluded.
