The deputy secretaries of the Security Council, the Russian ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasarov, and the Caribbean country’s Defense Minister, Vladimir Padrino López, also participated in the meeting with the head of state.
The officials reviewed the “challenges of current geopolitics, the progress in relations between Venezuela and Russia and the role of both nations in rejecting unilateral coercive measures,” said the state channel VTV, which broadcast images of the meeting.
He also said that they evaluated regional security in Latin America and the Caribbean, military cooperation and civil defense.
Last December, Venezuela and Russia signed 11 cooperation agreements in the areas of health, energy, maritime transport and anti-drugs, among other areas, for the next decade, during a high-level meeting held in Caracas, where a delegation is visiting. of the Eurasian country headed by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Alexander Novak.
Among the agreements signed, a cooperation plan stands out for the “fight once morest drug trafficking” and for the “improvement of the supply system of essential insulin medicines,” the Sectorial Vice-Presidency of Economy reported at the time in a press release.
