Maduro monitors the situation in Sucre after the passage of Hurricane Beryl (+Details)

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro spoke on Tuesday about the emergencies arising from the heavy rains caused by Hurricane Beryl in the state of Sucre.

Through a post on his social media account X, the president detailed that he has been in contact with Gilberto Pinto, Governor of the entity, since the morning hours.

He is also in communication with the mayor and other authorities, “dealing with emergencies arising from the heavy rainfall caused by Hurricane Beryl that has affected Cumanacoa in the state of Sucre,” he said.

“All my support and solidarity. The security and rescue forces are active and alert in the most affected areas to assist the people in real time and in a timely manner,” Maduro added.

Hurricane Beryl passes through Sucre

For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, provided an assessment of the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl in the state of Sucre.

He also indicated on his social networks that reinforcements from Civil Protection and the Fire Department had been reactivated to deal with the situation.

Speaking to VTV, Ceballos said that at least two people died and five were missing after the Manzanares River overflowed.

However, he said that “the situation is under control.” He added that more than 600 homes were affected.

Meanwhile, officials from the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) reported the rescue of several residents affected by the overflow of the Manzanares River, following the rains caused by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
