The opposition leader María Corina Machado said this Wednesday that Nicolás Maduro’s administration knows that “it no longer has people” nor “strength” for the presidential elections on July 28, so “he knows that he has already been defeated” and, given this, “he has made violence his campaign.”
«We defeated him spiritually and morally and we defeated him in the streets, and that will be seen this afternoon here in Guanare«He told the media in the state of Portuguesa.
Likewise, he recalled that during 13 days of the campaign, which began last July 4, State security officials have detained 72 people, of which 24 are still imprisoned, among them, their security chief, Milciades Ávila, arrested last morning in his home.
Ávila was accused of alleged «gender violence against women» that, last Saturday, they tried to attack Machado and the PUD candidate, as reported by the anti-Chavista and several witnesses, who recorded the scene and published the video on social networks.
The opposition leader reiterated that the Maduro administration “the only thing left is to resort to violence and fear”as well as “the persecution and arrests of innocent people.”
With 11 days left until the elections, Machado called to remain “until the end” on election day and reported that “all goals have been met» to have the voters «well trained, organized and communicated in all centers and in all voting stations”both in Venezuela and abroad.
