Caracas, Sep 11 (EFE).- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Tuesday that the country is facing “international aggression and a fascist outbreak,” which he blamed on the United States, which he said had designed a policy to use the July 28 presidential election to mount a “multidimensional” operation against it.
“We are facing an international aggression and a fascist, criminal, and very dangerous outbreak in Venezuela. The United States government (…) designed a policy to use this electoral process and mount a multidimensional operation against Venezuela,” he said at the closing of the ‘World Congress against Fascism, Neofascism and Similar Expressions’, in Caracas.
The president indicated that this “operation” was organized in parallel with the talks held by a delegation of his government with the United States during 2023.
“During this process of dialogue, we discovered plans to assassinate me, violent plans against military units and centres of political power in the country,” he added.
