Maduro celebrates Senior Citizens’ Day with dance therapy despite complaints from the sector

This Wednesday, Nicolas Maduro celebrated National Senior Citizens Day participating in a dance therapy session in Los Caobos Park, in Caracas, where she invited those present to continue practicing sports activities.

“Long live the grandparents! What a great dance therapy! I wanted to be with you to send a message to the grandparents, to the elderly: Let’s practice exercises (…) Hugging each other, united towards new victories with lots of health and energy“, he explained.

Maduro was accompanied by Cilia Floresas well as Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, Minister of Sports Mervin Maldonado, and Minister of Health Magaly Gutiérrez.

The activity was held despite the constant demonstrations of pensioners and retirees, who for some months now have demonstrated against the administration of Nicolás Maduro due to the low income of the sector.

Last week, the executive secretary of the National Health Federation (Fetrasalud) and national operational coordinator of the Fuerza Vecinal party, Pablo Zambrano, said that despite the announcement of the salary increase by the Maduro administration, The salary in Venezuela is still 130 bolivars.

Zambrano explained that the fact of maintaining the salary at just 130 bolivars per month directly affects the vacation bonus, social benefits and the trust fund “as well as there being no decent pensions, which curtails and does not comply with article 91 of the Constitution which indicates that the salary must be decent and sufficient”.
