“I call on the conscience of the peoples to eradicate once and for all the slave-owning practices of the capitalist system.” This was published by Maduro on his Twitter account. In addition, he called for joining efforts for “the healthy development and rights of children.”
For its part, the Public Ministry “strongly rejected all forms of abuse and exploitation once morest the integrity of the world’s boys and girls.”
However, a recent investigation by the NGO Community Learning Centers (Cecodap), together with the Agency of Journalists Friends of Children and Adolescents (PANA), revealed that children and adolescents are recruited in Venezuela by organized crime to work for gangs.
Cecodap assured that the Venezuelan State “does not address in a comprehensive and sufficient manner the structural causes of the recruitment of children and adolescents by organized crime.”
