Maduro calls for national consultation on communal projects for August 25

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, called for new national consultation elections on August 25 to vote for the projects that the 4500 communal circuits prioritize. “Democracy, elections, People’s Power,” he asserted.

During the National meeting with Community Members, which took place at the Bicentennial Fair Complex of Barquisimeto, Lara state, the head of State instructed the Executive Vice President of the Republic Delcy Rodríguez to lower resources for the implementation of plans designed by the communities.

“I made a commitment, and to the community whose project is chosen by popular vote, I will finance the project that came in second place, immediately,” he declared.

He specified that there are already 220 communities that have completed their first project, so he called: “Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, proceed to deposit the money for the second project to those 220 communities.”

The national leader highlighted that the National Popular Consultation represented the first advance and stated that it will accelerate the financing process of the secondary projects proposed in the communities, immediately.

He ordered the elaboration of a better definition of the existing communal circuits, with which the consultation system of these instances is perfected. “Let them adapt to the grassroots community councils,” he advised.

He ratified that “we are in a process to accelerate changes and transformations in the country,” and in that sense – he recalled – the most important of all the approaches have to come from the People’s Power.

“Here we are, in the first National Assembly of all the communal councils and communes throughout the country,” he said.

At the meeting, Maduro recalled the experience of the El Maizal Commune, in the Simón Planas municipality, on June 8, 2024, for which the líder Bolivarian congratulated the work carried out by the Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, in recent days. “He is the People of Power forever,” he stressed.

For his part, the Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, reported that with resources designated for the Villa San José Bolívar Commune, located west of Barquisimeto, the reactivation of an aqueduct was achieved that “will give water to more than seven hundred families” in a “work that was carried out by self-management and self-construction.”

On the other hand, Maduro highlighted the trust that must always be felt in the people when responding to all situations that arise in the communities, which is why he asserted that “the people can do anything, they are our strength, our life and inspiration.”

This initiative emanating from both the Popular Power and the Communal Power, is described by the head of State as the “only formula there is”, to prevent Venezuela from being dominated by a “system of savage capitalism” and “regressing towards a democracy.” of oligarchic elites and minorities.” Consequently, these actions will allow the country to “move towards a direct democracy where the people have power.”

Inauguration of works

In the activity, President Maduro announced that next week he will inaugurate the aqueduct work built by the Villas de San José Bolívar Commune, west of Barquisimeto, specifically in the Ana Soto parish. “I want to come next week to inaugurate that project,” he said.
