Nicolás Maduro announced this Wednesday, although without delving into details, that the launch of a social network will take place on Friday, March 18.

“Venezuela is going to have its own social network for the country and the world. Wait for its launch! », He said during an act in celebration of the sixth anniversary of the Local Supply and Production Committee (CLAP).

He announced it when he criticized that the supposed “achievements of the Bolivarian revolution” are not published on TikTok.

In the broadcast, Maduro challenged the president of VTV, Freddy Ñáñez, known as “Alfred Nazareth”, to use TikTok to spread government information.

In addition, he asked if the Instagram and Facebook networks are used. Responding yes, she reiterated her encouragement to use TikTok.

“We have to take all the examples and multiply them on TikTok, on Instagram, on Facebook and in other instances that we are going to have very soon and that I cannot tell you yet,” he said.

And he continued: “Venezuela is going to surprise the world with something that we are going to launch on Friday and they are going to be shocked in the world. Venezuela is at the level of the world’s social networks with our own social network. I say no more, just wait for its activation and announcement on Friday».

Ven App

Although he did not give details, his statements coincide with the complaints that have been filed in recent days regarding the emergence of an application known as Come App.

“It seems that the ruling party created a social network type app. I have followed up on it and I was able to verify that the first users are people from the youth of your party, so be aware before downloading and registering, ”Isaac Fernández, a technology and Internet specialist, warned on Twitter.

According to other social network users, the first people to be “speaking very highly” of the tool retweet and “like” publications from the government of Nicolás Maduro.

“Applications like WeChat in China and VK in Russia are practically forced to collaborate with data and technology with the governments of those countries, which has allowed to have a high level of prediction and monitoring of the population. It is possible that the same is sought with the Ven App”, said Fernandez regarding it.

“Also, to attract users, it would not be surprising to see a round of promotions with monetary incentives that would encourage many people to download it, without thinking regarding the background it brings. For that reason it seemed important to me to share it », he added.

“Temporarily restricted”

The National She logged into the app’s Twitter account and noticed that the social network had placed her on “temporarily restricted” status for unusual activity.

The App indicates in the Play Store regarding itself: «Plan and organize your activities, our tool allows institutions to segment all their work groups through a single application of communication and dissemination by channels. We have closed or open group options.
