“The first thing I thought of when I woke up in the hospital was my children,” he wrote on his social networks.

Madonna says she is focused on her health and returning to the stage following a “serious bacterial infection” that led to her being hospitalized in an intensive care unit for several days last month.

“I am on the mend and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life,” the pop superstar wrote on Instagram.

“The first thing I thought of when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I didn’t want to disappoint anyone buying tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the past few months to create my show,” she added.

“My focus now is on my health and getting stronger, and I assure you that I will be back with you as soon as I can,” he continued.

The North American leg of his Celebration tour, originally scheduled to kick off on July 15 in Vancouver and continue through October 8 in Las Vegas, has been postponed. His tour will now begin on October 14 at the O2 Arena in London.

Promoter Live Nation confirmed the changes.

“Rescheduled dates will be announced as soon as possible. Fans are asked to hold on to their tickets as they will be valid for the new dates once they are announced,” a statement read.

According to her manager Guy Oseary, on June 24, Madonna “developed a severe bacterial infection that led to her spending several days in an intensive care unit,” as she wrote on Instagram a few days following the star was admitted to hospital.

“His health is improving, however, he is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.”
