Madonna: her biopic would no longer be relevant

According to Variety, the biopic project devoted to Madonna and directed by the pop star in person would no longer be relevant, due to the world tour announced by the singer on January 17.

One project drives out the other. The biopic devoted to the life of Madonna, which she was to direct herself, would have fallen through. The project announced in September 2020, had however found its interpreter last June, since the actress Julia Garner was to camp on the screen the interpreter of Like a Virgin. But the announcement of his world tour, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the release of his first opus, changed the situation, and the film is no longer in development within Universal Pictures, according to Variety.

The 64-year-old star indeed seems to want to focus on this new project, the tickets for which have been snapped up. Her only objective is her tour, explained relatives of the artist to the American magazine, specifying however that she did not rule out one day making a film regarding her life. Neither Madonnanor Universal Pictures have yet reacted to this announcement.

In the meantime, the artist will embark on his “Celebration Tour” from July to next December. This world tour, conceived as a retrospective of his four decades of career, will pass through Paris for three dates at the Accor Arena, on November 12, 13 and 19.

Two concerts were originally planned in France, but “in the face of phenomenal demand”, an additional date has been added, Live Nation announced on January 19. The November 19 concert will be put on presale by Live Nation tomorrow morning, then on sale the day following tomorrow, Friday January 27, from 10 a.m.
