Madonna got a “Maman” tattoo

Pop icon Madonna commemorates her mother who died early with a “Maman” tattoo. “I’m doing this for my mother,” the 63-year-old says in a video that shows her getting the words – the French word for “mama” – tattooed on her wrist. “It’s my turn to bleed for my mother,” the singer says in the clip she shared on Instagram. In the video she explains: “Because what do you do when you give birth to a child? You bleed.”

Speaking to her son David, who stops by later in the video, the pop star says, “I can’t use my mother’s name because it’s the same as mine. It would look like I had my own friggin’ name written on my arm.” Madonna’s mother, Madonna Louise Fortin, died of breast cancer in 1963 when today’s world star was five years old.

Madonna has the letter X tattooed over the new tattoo – her album released in 2019 was called “Madame X”. The pop star also has several other tattoos, including her children’s initials, according to US magazine People.
