The famous American pop singer, Madonna, confirmed that her recent illness, which required hospitalization, made her “more determined to help others.”
Madonna urged her audience to donate to a charity that helps orphaned children in the African country of Malawi, in conjunction with her celebration of her 65th birthday the day before yesterday, according to the British news agency, BA Media.
“After entering the hospital, finally, I became more determined to help others,” the American singer said in a video clip posted on the “Rising Malawi” website, which Madonna co-founded. “With more than 50 percent of Malawi’s population under the age of 18, the need for assistance is enormous,” she added.
“The best gift I can ask for on my birthday is for you to support Malawi’s work in children’s healthcare,” she added.
Due to a severe bacterial infection, the pop icon was forced to spend several days in intensive care last June, and her world tour, which was originally scheduled for mid-July, was postponed.
And the official website of the international star announced her return to theaters by rescheduling her postponed concerts in North America, while keeping the dates of her European tour scheduled for October 14th, starting from London to include Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. To be followed by the North American tour, which was supposed to start last July 15 from Vancouver, Canada, then it was postponed to December 13, so that it starts from Brooklyn and ends in Mexico City next April.
