American pop star Madonna, 64, reassured her fans, Monday, that she was “recovering” following suffering from a “severe bacterial infection” that required her hospitalization and prompted her to postpone her world tour.

In a post on her social media pages, the singer addressed for the first time the issue of her hospitalization and being transferred to the intensive care unit for several days in June.

“When I woke up in the hospital, the first thing that came to my mind were my kids, and then I thought I didn’t want to disappoint everyone who bought tickets to my concerts,” she wrote.

The severe bacterial infection prompted Madonna to postpone her world tour, “The Celebration Tour”, which was scheduled to run from July to December in North America and Europe.

Her first concert was supposed to be in Vancouver, western Canada, on July 15.

The singer said Monday, “I am currently focusing on my health, and I assure you that I will return to my artistic activity when I am able to do so.”

And the singer’s manager, Guy Oseary, announced at the end of last June that Madonna had an “acute bacterial infection” that required her hospitalization and transfer to the intensive care unit, indicating that she was recovering.

Madonna indicated that her goal is to revive her concerts in Europe on the dates originally set within the European tour, which is supposed to start from London on October 14, and to reschedule the dates for the canceled concerts in North America.
