**madeleine Gaudreau:** Tripp is perfect. He arrived a little early but is healthy and thriving. He’s brought so much joy and laughter back into our home.There isn’t a moment I don’t feel Matthew’s presence with us. it feels as if he’s guiding us and sharing this amazing journey with us.
**Archyde:** Losing Matthew so suddenly must have been devastating. Can you tell us a bit about the support you’ve received from your family and friends during this difficult time?
**Madeleine Gaudreau:** My family and friends have been incredible. The love and support I’ve received have been overwhelming. My in-laws, johnny and his fiancé, have been pillars of strength. They’ve been with me every step of the way, offering comfort and helping me navigate this new reality.
**Archyde:** Matthew was a beloved coach and touched the lives of so many young people. What do you think his greatest legacy will be?
**Madeleine Gaudreau:** Matthew had a gift for connecting with kids. He was passionate about coaching and committed to helping them reach their full potential. His legacy will be his unwavering dedication to his students, his infectious optimism, and the lasting impact he had on their lives.

**many people around the world were deeply saddened by the loss of Matthew and his brother Johnny in that tragic accident. Can you tell us a little about your memories of Matthew and what made him so special?**
**Madeleine:** Matthew was truly one of a kind. His dedication to his family and friends was unwavering. He had the warmest smile and could light up a room with his infectious laughter. matthew was passionate about hockey,both playing it and coaching it. he had a natural ability to connect with people,especially young players.
**You recently welcomed your son, Tripp Matthew, into the world, a joyous event amidst immense grief. Can you share those feelings with us?**
**Madeleine:** The joy of Tripp’s arrival is mixed with overwhelming sadness that Matthew isn’t here to experience it. It’s a bittersweet experience, but I know in my heart Matthew would be overjoyed to meet his son.
**Being so close to matthew’s passing and now welcoming a newborn, what keeps you going through these complex emotions?**
**Madeleine:** Knowing how much Matthew wanted to be a father keeps me going. Tripp is a reminder of the love and joy Matthew brought into the world.
I find strength in the love and support from our family and friends, and from the outpouring of kindness from the hockey community.
**What would you like people to remember most about Matthew?**
**Madeleine:**
I want people to remember Matthew for his kindness, his infectious laugh, and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He was truly a special person who touched the lives of everyone he met.
