Madbouly inspects the Green and Blue Zones in Sharm El Sheikh in preparation for the Climate Summit

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, during his tour today in Sharm El-Sheikh, inspected the location of the Green Zone to be established in the Peace Park during the Climate Summit (Cop27), as well as the Blue Zone, which is managed by the United Nations Secretariat, during the summit activities.

The Prime Minister listened to an explanation from Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, regarding the Green Zone, explaining in this context that it is an area to be established in the Peace Park during the Climate Summit, and is dedicated to exhibitions and side events, held by the private sector, civil society, youth, and various ministries, To present success stories, projects, innovations and related products in the field of addressing the effects of climate change, in addition to musical, artistic and performance performances to raise awareness of the issue of climate change and its importance to humans.

The Minister of Environment noted that reservations for pavilions and side events have been opened in the Green Zone, through the conference website, for the youth wishing to participate in the conference, NGOs, organizations and companies in Egypt and the world. Where reservations are made in the green zone according to controls and conditions that guarantee honorable representation and present the best success stories and distinctive environmental experiences, which are a realistic model for application that can be replicated and benefited from on a larger scale locally and globally.

Dr. Karim Morsi, Advisor to the Minister of Environment, explained to the Prime Minister that the installation of structures and murals for exhibitions, registration offices, and services in the countries participating in the conference is currently being completed, as well as the completion of infrastructure construction for that region, in addition to working to complete the development work in the Peace Park. Which is developed and prepared with all the equipment to be an edifice and an example for exhibitions in the world, in a manner worthy of Egypt’s image, history and orientations towards development and sustainability.

After that, the Prime Minister inspected the projects that are being implemented in the Green Zone; Where Dr. Mostafa Madbouly listened to an explanation from Brigadier Ibrahim Alawi, Advisor to the Minister of Environment, who confirmed that work is currently underway to raise the efficiency of the fountain, and pave the road leading to the green zone, as well as work to prepare the ground for the establishment of the exhibition, especially the pavilions dedicated to civil society, youth, and exhibitors from private sector companies; To ensure its ability and readiness to accommodate the numbers expected to participate during the conference from Egypt and the world, the efficiency of the places designated for food and cafeterias is also raised, the theater and the plants in the garden are raised, and procedures are being taken to facilitate linking the area to the conference hall, the Bedouin village, the tent area, the Biodiversity Information Center and the Museum Million drama, in order to provide a variety of services for visitors to ensure an environmental experience that combines scientific and practical benefit and enjoyment of nature.

In this context, the Prime Minister instructed the necessity of setting a timetable for the completion of all the projects contained in the Green Zone, stressing that he will continue to follow up the implementation of this during the coming period. A barrier over the place through which he will present his works, and the exact area of ​​this place; This is to give them a great opportunity to prepare and furnish their exhibits and pavilions and make decorations for their places.

Then the Prime Minister moved following that, to inspect the Blue Zone and its extensions, which is fully managed by the United Nations Secretariat, where the executive officials indicated that this region will witness plenary sessions, special sessions, side events, exhibitions and pavilions, in which heads of state, official delegations and negotiators will participate, And the media that are accredited, as well as organizations and bodies approved by the secretariat of the Convention.

In this context, the officials explained that infrastructure development works are underway in the region, and continuous follow-up to complete the car parks, and to ensure that all services reach the region, and the work of the halls is being completed and equipped with the latest technologies, in order to present a real and realistic model of sustainable environmental compatibility for the world. ; For the climate conference in Egypt to form a picture of environmental compatibility in all its logistical, technical and technical dimensions.

During his stay in the region, the Prime Minister was briefed on some other equipment represented in relying on environmentally friendly electrical and natural gas-powered means, and that a number of hotels obtained the Green Star, and 60 diving centers received the green mark, and the shift towards new and renewable energy at the airport and the conference hall. A 5-MW solar cell plant has been constructed on the rooftops of Sharm El-Sheikh Airport.

Waste is collected, separated and recycled in Sharm El-Sheikh through the integrated management of the waste system, in addition to setting up television screens at the airport to simplify and explain the concept of climate change as a simplified means of identification.
