Macron’s apron did not… excite France’s schools – 2024-02-17 15:55:25

Macron announced in January that 100 schools would voluntarily pilot the return of the apron (which was abolished in France in 1969) in 2024, so that if successful the experiment would be imposed on all schools from 2025.

The deadline for nominations is Friday. However, as expected, the idea did not… excite as only one municipality in the “extreme right” city of Béziers accepted. The government decided on Thursday to give leeway until June.

In all other schools the resistance is strong. Where they were not consulted, they demonstrated once morest this measure and the idea was abandoned.

The chronic problems of French public education are many and specific. It’s definitely not the apron.
