MP Sacha Houlié, who was a member of the left wing of the presidential camp, will not “sit” in the Renaissance group, he said on Wednesday, July 10, explaining that he was “working” on the creation of another group ranging from “the social right to the socialist left.” “Clearly, we are trying to create a group that goes from the social right to the socialist left so that France can be governed. All goodwill is welcome,” he stressed to AFP, while the presidential camp is in turmoil following the legislative elections.
Discussions. “The Renaissance group, I will not sit on it,” added the former president of the Laws Committee, a historic figure of Macronie. The deputy from Vienne mentioned discussions with elected officials from “Renaissance, various left, UDI and radicals” to try to form a group. “We are not there yet, but we are working on it,” he indicated.
He claimed that at least “forty” Macronist deputies have not yet joined the future Renaissance group in the Assembly. Having gone from around 250 seats to around 160 elected representatives following the legislative elections, the deputies of the presidential camp are torn between the left and the right in an attempt to form a coalition. Ministers such as Gérald Darmanin and Aurore Bergé are campaigning for a rapprochement with LR, to the great displeasure of the left wing.
