PARIS (Archyde.com) – French President Emmanuel Macron told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the 1st (local time) that Europe will continue to help export Ukrainian grains by land and river.

During a phone call with President Zelensky from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the same day, Macron welcomed the first departure of a vessel carrying Ukrainian grain, the Elysee Palace said.

This is the first direct conversation between Macron and Zelensky since Macron’s surprise visit to Kiiu, the Ukrainian capital, along with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi at the time, on June 16.

According to the Elysee Palace, Macron said he would make sure that war crimes do not go unpunished amid an increase in war crimes, such as the new massacre by Russian troops in Olenyuka, Donetsk province, eastern Ukraine.

President Macron pointed out that Russia is spreading false information regarding the war to African countries he visited last week, and agreed to jointly respond to Russia’s information warfare around the world with President Zelensky.

Macron also made it clear he was willing to continue supporting Ukrainian forces to fight a Russian invasion, and promised short-term macroeconomic support to rebuild the war-torn Ukraine.

A freighter carrying 26,000 tons of Ukrainian corn departed for Tripoli, Lebanon, from Odessaan, southern Ukraine, before the two leaders spoke on the same day. It has been more than five months since the Russian invasion of Ukraine blocked the Black Sea route.

Earlier, Ukraine, Russia, the United Nations and Turkiye agreed to ensure the safety of sea routes so that grain tied to Ukrainian ports can be exported to the Black Sea to solve the global food crisis.

Vessels exporting Ukrainian grain follow a guide and navigate on a safe route, and are inspected for weapons at the Joint Control Center (JCC) opened in Istanbul, Turkey.
