Macron expresses ‘shock and outrage’ after bodies of 6 Israeli prisoners recovered from Gaza

Macron said in a post on his account on the “X” platform: “Shock and indignation after the discovery of the six hostages killed by the factions movement in Gaza. My condolences to their families and loved ones.”

The French president added: “There must be an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages, including two of our citizens, Ohad Yahalomi and Ofer Calderon,” stressing that “the war must stop.”

In the same context, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump attacked current US President Joe Biden and his competitor Kamala Harris, stressing that their hands are stained with blood due to the killing of six Israeli prisoners, including an American citizen.

The Israeli army and the Shin Bet security service announced the discovery of the bodies of 6 Israeli prisoners from the Gaza Strip: Carmel Gat, Aden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg Paulin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarousi, and non-commissioned officer Uri Danino.

Against this backdrop, criticism has escalated against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, holding him responsible for the killing of the six Israeli detainees held by the factions, whose bodies were found inside a tunnel in the Rafah area in the southern Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu threatened on Sunday to make the factions’ movement “pay the price” after the Israeli army found the bodies of 6 prisoners in the Gaza Strip, and 3 police officers were killed in a shooting operation carried out this morning near the Tarqumiya checkpoint, south of the West Bank, while Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich threatened to “reduce the area of the Gaza Strip and cleanse the area located two kilometers deep along the Strip.”
