On Thursday evening, French President Emmanuel Macron called for maintaining channels for negotiations with Russia in order to stop the escalation in Ukraine

Macron said at the conclusion of the summit of the Group of Seven major countries and NATO, which was held Thursday in Brussels, that the allies will continue to provide Ukraine with defensive and deadly weapons as well as humanitarian aid.
“The limits we set for ourselves are not to participate in the war,” he said, adding that this meant that France and its allies would not deliver equipment such as planes or tanks to Ukraine because this “would mean joint combat.”

Emmanuel Macron also stressed that he does not intend to set “red lines” in the face of Russia’s actions, preferring “strategic ambiguity and cautious judgment.”

The French President stressed that there will soon be a reinforcement of French forces in the Baltic states, especially in Estonia, within the framework of “NATO”.
“We are ready to increase sanctions as necessary,” Emmanuel Macron said, referring to the economic sanctions imposed on Russia.

In his speech, he stressed that pressure from other countries on Russia “will increase.”

In addition, Macron indicated that the world is on the verge of an unprecedented food crisis, noting that “we are on the verge of an unprecedented food crisis that will intensify within 12 to 18 months.”
