Macron and his wife welcomed Vučić, who arrived in Paris

Prior to the opening of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games, French President Emmanuel Macron held a reception in the Elysée Palace in Paris with the presence of world leaders and presidents of international organizations. Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia, was also present among the hundred invited guests, Blic reports.

“I thank President Macron for the warm welcome. The Olympics is a symbol of hope, unity and competition in the spirit of fair play, so we wish all our teams successful competition and many new records. Serbia is proud of its athletes, who represent us at this prestigious competition, and I am convinced that they will show outstanding results, as in the past,” wrote Vučić on his Instagram account.

The reception was attended by the leaders of 85 countries, including the Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok. In addition to the heads of state, the presidents of 15 international organizations were also present at the reception, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee and many others. .

Macron visits Serbia

“I expect his visit to Belgrade in the next 50 days at the latest, I think we can make important agreements,” Vučić said.

In Paris, security measures were raised to the highest level, the streets were closed, where a lot of police and soldiers can be seen. After the reception, the heads of state and government will attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which will begin at 19:30.
