macOS Ventura: a bug with Screen Time in Messages

macOS Ventura has an issue with requests for additional screen time received in Messages. It is impossible to follow up..

Since the latest versions of Apple’s systems, a child who sees the Screen Time curtain fall on their app while they’re using it can request an extension of time through the Messages app. The parent will receive it in this same app and can answer it easily. It also helps keep track of past requests.

There is nothing special to do for this request to be issued via Messages it’s automatic. It is enough that everyone is on iOS/iPadOS 16, Ventura or watchOS 8 and that the child has applied from an iPhone or iPad.

In Messages on iOS we were able to grant a rab’ of time. As expected

A bug, noted by one of our readers, however, makes it impossible to follow up on the request in Messages on macOS. We can click on the notification in Messages, it does not go further.

Screen Time request appears in Messages on Mac but can’t do anything regarding it

It works fine in Messages on the iPhone though. As expected, we are offered 3 additional deadlines or the option to decline. It will therefore rather be necessary to respond in this way while waiting for Apple to correct this bug.
