After the era of macOS Ventura 13, the Apple announced the next generation of its operating system for Macs: the macOS Sonoma 14.

Users will be able to add widgets directly on the Desk (Desktop), interact with them with just one click, and through the magic of the Continuity feature (Continuity), sync iPhone widgets to Mac. In addition, there will be new screensavers that can also be displayed on the locked screen of Mac.

The new generation of the system will also add powerful features and productivity tools, including dynamic videoconferencing capabilities, including Presenter Overlaywhich brings users to the foreground when showing their work during video calls, including them at the top of the content they are sharing.

Designed to enable hybrid studio workflows and remote professionals, macOS Sonoma will come with a new high-performance mode for the Screen Share app that leverages Apple Silicon’s advanced media engine to provide incredibly responsive remote access, including low latency audio, high frame rates, and support for reference colors.

In addition, major updates are coming to Safari with the new version of WebKit, including the implementation of profiles (which keep browsing separate across multiple topics or projects), and web apps on Mac that provide faster access to favorite websites.

In macOS Sonoma, a new Game mode will prioritize gameplay over other background apps. In addition, Apple will release a new tool to help developers migrate their games from other platforms to the Mac.
