Macky Sall allocates 69 million USD to vulnerable households

The Senegalese President, Macky Sall, proceeded on Tuesday to the official launch of the exceptional monetary transfer operations intended for more than 500 thousand households of the single national register (Rnu) for a total envelope of 69 million USD.

“It is to provide solutions to the unfavorable economic situation that I decided to support the resilience of the 542 thousand 966 households listed in the single national register to receive from the State an exceptional cash transfer of an amount of 43 billion CFA francs (69 million USD),” Sall said.

According to the document submitted by the organizers, the operation was initiated in response to the global economic situation resulting from the combined effects of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The objective is to give 80,000 francs (128 USD) to each household and thus improve their level of consumption”, continued the President of the Republic, ensuring that social protection is an important lever of his policy.

He said that this action, beyond fighting once morest extreme poverty and vulnerability, integrates the empowerment of beneficiaries by helping to improve their living conditions.

Macky Sall also thanked the partners who contributed to the realization of this exceptional operation whose resources came from the multi-donor trust fund for adaptive social protection and funding from IDA (international development association).
