Machinery and equipment sector exports US$ 1.043 billion

Report from Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq) released in August this year, data regarding the performance of the Brazilian machinery and equipment industry sector in terms of exports. According to the study carried out, export data in the machinery and equipment sector indicated a total revenue of US$ 1.043 billion in July 2023, representing a reduction of 21.3% compared to May, when it had registered an increase of 35. 7% compared to April 2023. The drop in June partially offset the growth in May, resulting in a level of exports similar to that observed in June 2022, which totaled US$ 1.032 billion.

Still on export data, the report released in July 2023, the machinery and equipment production sector reached a total export value of US$ 1.3 billion. This number represented an impressive 35.7% increase compared to April, which in turn had recorded a 21.2% drop compared to March 2023.

In addition to the export result, the ABIMAQ report, showed growth in net revenue from sales of machinery and equipment, marking the second consecutive increase in this type of analysis. As a result, the second quarter of the year saw growth of 2.7%. The highlight this time was the increase in sales in the domestic market, representing the first time in the year that the improvement in performance was driven by this factor. Meanwhile, exports, which had been showing strong growth, even compared to the previous year, registered a drop in this period. The recent improvement in the results of the Brazilian machinery and equipment industry can be attributed to the increase in sales of components for capital equipment, machines for infrastructure and equipment for the logistics and civil construction sectors.

Regarding the performance of the industrial machinery and equipment segment, the 17th Sobratema Study of the Brazilian Construction Equipment Market revealed optimistic perspectives in sales projections in this sector for the year 2023.
