Maccabi Haifa surrendered 4:3 to Fiorentina

Kinda outstanding actor, score: 7
In defense and attack the midfielder was constantly on the move and scored a goal in a great move. Excellent performance, the disappointing actor Manuel Capumana, score: 5
Controlled the game from the middle in the first half, but faded in the second half and committed an unnecessary foul that earned him a second yellow card. Too bad

Football plays 90 minutes. This is a rule that every child knows and one of the famous phrases in the industry. Maccabi Haifa already thought this evening (Thursday) that they managed to record a good result against Fiorentina in the first game of the round of 16 of the Conference League and that they would go to the rematch in Florence with a draw, but the champion found out that the 90 minutes had extra time, where they conceded and surrendered 4:3 to the Italian team in the game “My home” in Budapest, Hungary.

You might call them naive, you might be upset about the goal in the disappointing minute, but in the end the Maccabi Haifa players showed great ability against a big club from Italy and did not fall from the team which is after all the runner-up of the factory owner. Masai Dago’s players managed to reverse a deficit and take the lead twice in the game, but the fatigue was the one that decided in the end and the national champion will arrive in Florence with a goal behind.

The game actually started in a very bad way for Maccabi Haifa. In less than two minutes after the opening whistle, Michael Kayode set up from the right side of the box and M’Bala Nzula shot from close range into the left corner and into the net. After the confusion in the opening minutes, Masai Degu’s players managed to get into the game and in the 12th minute they equalized. Gadi Kinda collected a corner kick from the right wing, Lorenzo Shimich continued to touch the center of the box and Abdulai Sak kicked into the net from close range.

The greens slowly took control of the game and got into excellent situations, while the visitors were unable to threaten Sharif Kiuf’s goal. In the 26th minute, Franzi Pierro made a big miss when he was sent one-on-one on the right side of the box and kicked the goalkeeper who headed to the corner. Three minutes later, Ali Muhammad with a great pass found Gadi Kinda, who with a great turn on his keeper was left in front of the goalkeeper alone and with a sharp kick to the far corner completed the amazing turnaround.

The first half ended without any dangerous situations and so did the second half. After his 12 minutes free of threats, Lucas Beltran broke into the box and kicked accurately to the right corner of Kioff, who again stood and reacted poorly and surrendered. The Italians got into two great situations and were close to turning it around, but that’s when they conceded when Anan Halaili with a great individual performance put the greens ahead in the 67th minute.

Dego’s players went back and tried to keep the score, while the Italians attacked with fury. In the 73rd minute Rolando Mandragora continued the rain of goals and equalized at the end of a great move by the guest, when seven minutes later Shaw received a second yellow and left his team with 10 players. The greens were hoping to get a prestigious and huge draw, but Antonin Brak had his own plans and he made it 3:4 mighty for Fiorentina with a great goal in the last minute of added time.

Maccabi Haifa will return to Israel and play an away game against Maccabi Bnei Reina this Sunday at 20:00, after which they will fly to Italy for the return match that will be held on Thursday at 19:45 in Florence. On the other hand, Fiorentina records a streak of four games without a loss and on Sunday at 21:45 they hope to extend it when they meet Roma in the 28th round of the Italian league.
