Relevant places in Macau have stepped up cleaning and disinfection in accordance with established guidelines.

There have been multiple cases of collective infection of the new coronavirus or respiratory virus in Macau, involving 3 schools and 1 institution, involving a total of 59 people. The condition of the patients is stable, and two of them require hospitalization due to pneumonia.

There were three cases of collective influenza infection. Patients have developed upper respiratory tract symptoms such as fever and cough since last Friday (January 26). Some patients have received diagnosis and treatment. Among them, 2 patients from the School of Applied Sciences Affiliated to the University of Macau required hospitalization due to pneumonia and are now in stable condition. The first patient is five students from Class P1S of Our Lady of Fatima Girls’ School located on Fatima Church Street in Taishan, all of whom are female; the second patient is six students from Class B of Grade 3 of Taipa Fangzhong School located on Chavez Street. students, 5 males and 1 female; the third patient is 41 students in classes K1D, K2D, P1E, P2D, P4C and S6D of the Applied School of the University of Macau located in Dalian Street, 25 males and 16 females. There have been many cluster class incidents at the University of Macau Applied School. Investigation by the Macau Health Bureau found that the incidents were caused by a variety of respiratory pathogens, mostly influenza A, but also caused by influenza B and adenovirus infections.

The people involved in the new coronavirus are 7 residents of Mother’s Nursing Home on Brussels Street, 3 men and 4 women. The patients began to develop upper respiratory tract symptoms such as cough and runny nose today (February 1), and all patients were confirmed by rapid tests. The Health Bureau initially determined that the cluster infection was caused by the new coronavirus infection.
