Macabre discovery in the hold of an Air Algerie plane

The lifeless bodies of two men were discovered on Saturday in the hold of a plane at Algiers International Airport, police said.

“Two lifeless male bodies, whose ages vary between 20 and 23, were discovered on Saturday at 5 a.m. in the hold of an Air Algérie airline plane which was stationary on the tarmac of the airport. Algiers airport,” police said in a statement.

An investigation was opened, added this source, which did not specify where the plane came from or where it was going.

According to local media, the victims are Algerians who were trying to get to Europe illegally.

In March, at Constantine airport (east), a 16-year-old minor had managed to board an Air Algerie plane clandestinely bound for France, according to the local press. He had arrived there safe and sound following making the trip in the baggage compartment.
