Mac shipments in Europe fell 22% in Q4 2022. The PC market is getting worse

Analytical company Canalys shared Western Europe Computer Market Report for the 4th quarter of 2022.

Mac shipments dropped 22% from 1.8 million to 1.4 million units, according to the company. However, the situation in the PC market is even worse: collapsed for the quarter by 38.5%. Virtually all brands have been hit harder than Apple.

Canalys attributes the current situation to several factors. Firstly, throughout the pandemic, the demand for computers has been constantly growing, the market has been oversaturated with offers. At the same time, a high percentage of consumers and businesses had the latest PCs that would not need to be replaced for several years.

Secondly, rising inflation and mass layoffs played an important role. Third, higher interest rates have made PC leasing more expensive for businesses, along with an overall reduction in spending across the economy.

The company is confident that the Western European PC market will continue to decline during this year, by regarding 7%. [9to5]
