Mac McClung: From G League Sensation to NBA Star – Orlando Magic’s Newest Addition

2023-08-22 21:14:05

Guard Mac McClung stole the spotlight during the 2023 All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk Contest by being the first G League player to enter and win the dunk contest.

Now, his future in the NBA is increasingly clear. According to The Athletic report, McClung signed a partially guaranteed deal with the Orlando Magic to play in the 2023-24 NBA season. The Orlando Sentinel confirmed that it is an Exhibit 10 deal, which means he will be part of the team during training camp.

Last year McClung played for the Delaware Blue Coats, the 76ers’ G League affiliate, and signed a two-way contract with the Philadelphia team prior to the Slam Dunk Contest. The Texas Tech graduate played in 31 development league games and posted averages of 19.8 points, 4.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds.

McClung already has NBA experience since in the 2021-22 season he signed two 10-day contracts with the Chicago Bulls and a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers at the end of the regular season, but he only played twice. In addition, the 24-year-old guard played two games in the NBA with the 76ers during the past season, 2022-23, and registered 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
