He will remain two more seasons with the Limburgers before spinning in the Bundesliga.
Maarten Vandevoordt will join RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024. The Genk goalkeeper will play two more seasons with the Belgian vice-champion before heading to the Bundesliga.
Vandevoordt was only 16 when he joined Core A as the third goalkeeper. In September 2019, he made his official debut for the Genk first team. A few months later, he will even become the youngest goalkeeper in the history of the Champions League at 17 years and 287 days. Meanwhile, he has 71 games on the clock.
“KRC Genk is particularly proud that once once more one of our natural talents can grow and get opportunities at a top German club,” the Limburgers said in their statement. “Maarten has followed a special path with us. At the same time, we are happy that he can put his qualities at the service of our club for two more seasons.”
