Lyon start-up GoSense makes life easier for the blind

Hugues of Chaumont et Francois Birot have been working since 2015 to restore autonomy to blind and visually impaired people. In France, visual impairment affects nearly 1.2 million people. To secure their travels, GoSense has developed a small electronic box equipped with an ultrasonic detection system.

This product, called Range, clips onto the white cane and connects via Bluetooth to the user’s smartphone to alert them of obstacles. Dangers are identified up to a distance of 2.5 meters thanks to 3D sound spatialization.

In addition to this innovation adopted by 600 people, the social and solidarity company has developed open headphones Noor (NEW Ear). The user hears the alerts emitted by Rango while continuing to perceive his environment thanks to “free” ears.

GoSense: towards development in Germany, Spain and England

To accelerate its commercial deployment, GoSense – seen in the television show “Who wants to be my partner” in February 2023 – has just closed a fundraising of 1 million euros with social impact investors.

We have found in Lita, Phitrust and Ophtabus partners who share our humanist and social vision. This support will allow us to continue our main mission: transforming the lives of blind people in France and in Europe thanks to Rango and Noor“, rejoices Hugues de Chaumont, co-founder and president of GoSense.

The Lyon start-up plans to offer its Rango solution in Germany, Spain and England and to launch the marketing of its Noor headphones. The small team of five people should also expand with the recruitment of two traveling salespeople and two engineers specializing in software, algorithm and embedded system development.
