Lyon defeated its guest Nice 1-0, at the opening of the twenty-second stage of the French Football Championship, providing Paris Saint-Germain a new service to move away from the lead.
Lyon owes its victory to Belgian Aurel Mangala, who scored his first goal in his second match in the colors of the “22” team.
Nice continued to shed points, following losing to Monaco 2-3 in the last stage, and drawing 0-0 with Brest before that, paying the price by moving away from leaders Saint-Germain by 11 points before the latter’s confrontation with Nantes on Saturday.
On the other hand, Lyon continued its awakening under the leadership of Pierre Sage, achieving its third consecutive victory out of seven this season, rising to eleventh place.
Morgan Sanson almost opened the scoring for Nice with a powerful shot from the outskirts of the area, but Portuguese goalkeeper Anthony Lopes blocked his shot (18).
The response came quickly with a goal scored by Mangala, who moved from Nottingham Forest, England, with a powerful shot from inside the area, following a cross from Ghanaian Ernest Noamah (22).
Lobis once more blocked Kevren Thuram’s shot from outside the area (44), and the Dutchman Pablo Rosario tried to equalize, but his header passed along the right post (69).
Lubis excelled in preserving the score with the best save of the match from Ivorian Jérémie Boga’s shot (86).
Rayan Sharqi missed the opportunity to increase the score with a shot from inside the area following a counterattack (88).
