After the 80-year-old didn’t come by his sister, who was 3 years older than him, on Friday morning as planned, she became worried and looked for the missing person.
The failure to appear was completely out of character for her brother and she knew immediately that something must have happened, she told the police. The woman and her daughter immediately went to look for the 80-year-old, who might not be found at his home address.
Since the tractor was missing from the driveway, the two concluded that something might have happened to the forester in the forest and continued to search there. They also knew that the 80-year-old had driven to the forest property the day before to carry out forestry work.
At 8:35 a.m. the two finally found the injured man – lying on the ground, trapped under a previously felled tree trunk. He was unresponsive at the time, police said.
The man was pulled out from under the heavy trunk by the Hofkirchen Volunteer Fire Department and flown to UKH Linz by rescue helicopter.
According to current knowledge, the man lay under the felled tree all night. Further information regarding the accident will follow.
