BRANCHBURG, NJ, March 7, 2023 (Archyde.com) /PRNewswire/ – Daily supplementation with Lycomato®, Lycored’s tomato-derived nutrient complex, delivers beauty results that are both scientifically measurable and noticeable by consumers following just 4 weeks of use, a new clinical study has found.
The anti-inflammatory properties of carotenoids mean they can support the skin from within and counteract the effects of aging. Lycomato is derived from tomatoes and contains standardized amounts of carotenoids including lycopene (15 mg), phytoene and phytofluene, which support skin health and appearance.
In the clinical study, 50 healthy women of various ages (35-58), ethnicity (Asian, Black, White and Latino) and skin types (Fitzpatrick II-V) took Lycomato softgels containing 15 mg of lycopene daily for 12 weeks.
Their skin condition was assessed using three methods: an expert visual assessment of facial markings, instrumental measurement (including assessment of firmness, elasticity and skin barrier from transepidermal water loss), and consumer perception through questionnaires.
Visual assessment revealed significant improvement in a number of parameters following both 4 weeks and 12 weeks of supplementation. These included fine lines, wrinkles, the appearance of pores, brightness/radiance, skin tone evenness, dark spot intensity, and skin smoothness and firmness. The instrumental measurement revealed a significant improvement in skin firmness following the fourth and 12th week and a significant improvement in the skin barrier following 12 weeks.
The self-assessment of the study also showed significant results. After 12 weeks of supplementation, 86% of subjects reported that using Lycomato had improved the overall appearance of their skin. 88% said it improved their skin’s elasticity, 86% said their skin felt smoother and 84% said it felt younger or healthier.
