Jean-Marc Mansvelt, current CEO of Chaumet, will take over the head of the ready-to-wear brand from 2024.
The world’s number one luxury brand LVMH announced on Tuesday the appointment of Chaumet’s CEO, Jean-Marc Mansvelt, to the position of CEO of Berluti as of January 1, 2024, succeeding Antoine Arnault who remains president.
“Under Antoine’s leadership,” the Berluti brand “emerged from the pandemics with excellent positioning, remarkable growth in turnover and profits. Jean-Marc will undoubtedly continue to fuel this positive dynamic,” declared LVMH Deputy CEO Toni Belloni, quoted in the press release.
Charles Leung, general manager of jeweler Fred since 2018, is appointed general manager of Chaumet. He therefore succeeds Jean-Marc Mansvelt who has held this position since 2014. The new general manager of Fred will be named later, according to the press release.
Antoine Arnault, eldest son of Bernard Arnault, was appointed to Berluti in 2011. The same year the company, created in 1895 in Paris and known for its shoes, launched a first ready-to-wear collection.
In mid-November, as part of LVMH’s partnership with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Berluti announced that it will dress the French team “from head to toe” during the opening ceremonies.
The outfits will be revealed later, as the Olympics approach. The brand will produce 1,300 outfits. It joins the other LVMH brands present at the Olympic Games and in particular the jeweler Chaumet which will design the Olympic and Paralympic medals which will be produced by the Monnaie de Paris.
The Moët Hennessy brands (champagnes, wines, cognacs, etc.) will be “hospitality partners” and therefore present in the VIP lounges, and Sephora will be a partner of the Torch relay. Louis Vuitton and Dior will later reveal their commitments.
A “shining” brand
“Among the slightly smaller brands, there is one that is also shining at the moment, it’s Berluti,” said Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, during the group’s general meeting in April.
He then told how he bought the brand which was for sale following Olga Berluti, the owner, found him a pair of shoes that perfectly fit him, by sight, without taking measurements. “It’s still extraordinary. And so we bought the business,” he said.
Antoine Arnault now leaves the operational reins to Jean-Marc Mansvelt, who moved to Louis Vuitton before Chaumet. “The immense experience gained by Jean-Marc throughout these years constitutes a valuable asset for continuing the development of Berluti,” declares Antoine Arnault, quoted in the press release.
Antoine Arnault, 46, is also president of Loro Piana, general manager and vice-president of the board of directors of the Christian Dior SE holding company which controls LVMH, and responsible for the image and environment of the LVMH group.
The Berluti brand, which is one of LVMH’s “75 houses”, now has 60 stores around the world.
In January LVMH announced renewals at the head of its two biggest brands, Louis Vuitton and Dior, with the appointment of Pietro Beccari at the head of the first, and Delphine Arnault, daughter of Bernard Arnault, at the helm of the second. .
In 2022, LVMH achieved a turnover of more than 79 billion euros. In the third quarter of this year, sales growth slowed with a return to “normal” following two years of post-pandemic euphoria.
