Since her arrest in July 2020, Ghislaine Maxwell has been detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. Now the charge of aiding and abetting the sexual abuse of underage girls sentenced to 20 years in prison 60-year-old transferred to lower-security federal prison in Florida, like «Daily Mail» reported.
The transfer comes against the recommendation of Judge Alison Nathan, who asked that she be transferred to a Connecticut prison. Maxwell was convicted after a December trial of helping billionaire trafficker Jeffrey Epstein abuse underage girls.
Maxwell had complained about the past prison
The new jail will be only about a five-hour drive from where she lured the young girls to so they could be abused by Epstein. Maxwell probably welcomes the transfer because it has changed bitterly complained about her treatment at the Metropolitan Detention Center. According to Maxwell’s attorneys, officers at the Brooklyn jail would shine a flashlight into her cell every 15 minutes, subject her to regular physicals and filmed her 24 hours a day.
At Maxwell’s trial, her victims testified that Maxwell had her lured to Epsteinwhen they were only 14 years old. At the sentencing hearing, Maxwell said she wanted to “acknowledge” her victims’ pain, but held back an apology. Her lawyers have already announced that they will appeal both the conviction and the verdict.
New Prison offers a variety of activities
Maxwell was found guilty of five counts out of six, with the most serious charge being child sex trafficking. Her new prison has 755 inmates – it only accommodates women.
According to an employee, the inmates of the prison Yoga is available as an activity in Tallahassee, as are Pilates, weight training, softball, flag football and Frisbee – English is also taught for those who wish to learn. The institution also has a leisure library and a talent show.
Maxwell could also train as an electrician, baker, gardener and plumber, among other things, if she wants to.
